at the top of the application it says the amounts are estimated, but I want to make sure I dont get taken for a ride or swindled. Are there protections in place for consumers or is it still a potentially risky environment out there. We have great credit and are going from a 6.58% conventional loan to a 5.25% FHA loan. Even with the PMI we need to carry, we’ll save about $250 per month. Any advice? I asked the lender about the 12,000 difference, and he said he wanted to make sure everything was covered so we didn’t have any out of pocket expenses and that the real loan amount would be adjusted once the real costs are put in place before closing-
please no solicitations to try a loan company from africa or wherever… or ways of making more money… I will only work with local people. is it possible to be swindled in an FHA loan?

Just because you are over 65 and you have equity in your home, is a reverse mortgage better than a normal mortgage? What are the benefits to doing a reverse mortgage?
Does the bank actually own the home if you do decide to go with a reverse mortgage? So you only receive up to 65% of the value of the equity in your home as of the time that you sign for the rev. mortgage? If you live fifteen more years and your home appreciates another 500,000 what happens to that equity?

So my hubby and I went to Wells Fargo March 7th to refinance our house. We gave the mortgage every single piece of paper he needed. Now, nearly 3 months later, it’s still is pending!?!?! I call him regularly and all he tells me is to keep waiting. What the heck? I know a lot of people are refinancing but is this normal?
